Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Wawa – Pukaskwa Park White River – Dubreuilville
  • Agawa – Lake Superior Park
  • Manitouwadge – Hornepayne

Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 40 mm are expected by Tuesday morning. Periods of rain associated with a cold front will continue today for areas from Timmins to New Liskeard. Heavier rain will develop across all regions by this evening with 30 to 40 mm expected by Tuesday morning. Rain will gradually taper to a few showers Tuesday morning. In addition to the rain, winds gusting to near 70 km/h are possible for regions adjacent Lake Superior tonight into Tuesday.

This rain is associated with a developing low-pressure system that will track towards Sault Ste. Marie by Tuesday morning. At this time rainfall amounts are expected to remain below rainfall warning criteria. Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologists are closely monitoring this situation and rainfall warnings will be issued if necessary.

  • Nipigon – Rossport

Total snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm are expected on Tuesday.

Rain will begin overnight tonight, and will change to snow at times heavy early Tuesday morning. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are expected, with lower amounts of 5 cm further west towards Nipigon and Beardmore. North winds gusting to 60 km/h will also result in local blowing snow producing reduced visibilities.

Snow will come to an end Tuesday evening.

  • Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay
  • Chapleau – Missinaibi Lake
  • Gogama – Foleyet

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Total rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 mm are expected by Tuesday morning.

Rain currently over the region will become lighter through the morning but will become heavy late this afternoon and tonight. The rain will gradually taper to a few showers Tuesday morning.

In addition to the heavy rain, winds gusting to near 80 km/h are possible overnight into Tuesday morning for areas from Sault Ste. Marie east towards Killarney and for Manitoulin Island.

This rain is associated with a developing low pressure system that will track towards Sault Ste. Marie by Tuesday morning.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Marine – Storm warning in effect. Wind southwest 15 knots backing to south 15 this morning then increasing to northeast 20 this evening. Wind increasing to northeast 35 overnight and to northeast 50 Tuesday morning. Wind diminishing to northeast 40 Tuesday afternoon. Waves one metre building to 2 overnight and to 4 Tuesday morning. Waves building to 5 near noon Tuesday.

News Tidbits – Montreal, QC based Punk Metal Sniper Rock band, Special Ops is playing tonight at the Lakeview. They have just begun their tour to promote their 8th album, “Baby Take it All ”. You can find several of their videos on Youtube.

The all-season 137-kilometre road to connect Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk will be completed by mid-November. With improved access (this was fly-in only before), residents hope that this means freedom and better prices for food.

CBC Sports has conducted a study concussions in Canada’s Olympians – their conclusion was that a 3rd of Canada’s 2018 Olympic hopefuls may have had a concussion. Of 142 atheletes, 48 may have suffered a concussion as they pursue Olympic gold.
