Students returned last week after a break from classes and are right back into the swing of things! The LEAD class served up a great pancake lunch with a side of fruit and bacon. This week’s menu is chicken tacos for the cost of $4.00.
Last Friday, a group of students travelled to Searchmont for the annual ski trip. It was great to have a bit of extra snow for their trip.
Students have been preparing for the grade ten Ontario Secondary School Literacy test (OSSLT) which is coming up Thursday, March 30th. The class schedule is a little different with extended morning classes and shortened afternoon classes to accommodate the test. We will end the week with a professional development day for teachers on Friday, the 31st.
Early identification reports were sent home to give a heads up to parents about students that may be struggling or need a bit of extra time and/or effort in their courses. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please contact the school (705-856-4464).
Grade nine students are half way through the art and music courses. All grade nine students are in both music and art: half of the group is in music while the other half is in art class. These students will switch classes at mid-term (about the middle of April). This combination of the Arts Program allows more options in the arts for students when entering grade ten as they have the prerequisites for continuing on in those subject areas. Here at MHS, we realize the importance of the arts and are aiming to maintain them in our course selection for students wishing to continue in this area of study.
Coming up next week, we have twelve MHS students who will be playing badminton in the NSSSAA semifinals here in Wawa. Good luck to all of our players!
The next parent council meeting will be April 4th. If you would like to join or would like more information, please call the school (705-856-4464).
