Students enjoyed the action last Thursday when the MHS Vikings took to the basketball court and dominated the play over the Chapleau Raiders. With a final score of 53-39, the senior boys’ team is now in first place as they start the NWOSSA play downs this week. Good luck to our junior and senior boys’ teams as they are in Manitouwadge on Thursday!
Badminton season has begun and practices have started after school. The teams will be formed soon, so students who are interested in being on the team should be out to every practice.
Mrs. Pinder held another great contest in the library to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Students were invited to enter the “How Many Hearts in the Jar” contest. The student with the closest guess won the prize: a stuffed animal and chocolates. Congratulations to the winner who was announced today. Also, sweet treats for your ‘sweetie’ were on sale last week. This is an annual event brought to us by Student Council and were distributed to staff and students today.
We enjoyed hosting the group of Rotary Inbound and Outbound students for our region. MHS students were treated to an assembly to learn about Rotary exchange and what countries students were from as well as where the Canadian and American students were heading to this year. The Rotary students were lead in by an Outbound student from Sault Ste. Marie who played the bagpipes! What a grand entry! It was also great to see our two former students, Ellen Mackenzie and Courtney Clarke, who were in attendance to share stories of their experiences with the Rotary exchange program.
This week’s hot lunch prepared by the Lead class is Turkey Chili. Every Thursday, the Lead class prepares a luncheon for staff and students for the minimal cost of $4.00. The orders for having this hot lunch are due at the beginning of each week.
The Art Department is looking for newspapers for a few projects they are working on. If you have old newspapers that are ready to be recycled, please either give us a call for pick up, or drop them off at the high school’s main office.
