Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation, to make an announcement at 1 p.m.
There were no new fires discovered by mid-afternoon May 19. There is one active fire in the Northeast Region, North Bay 3 is being observed at 1 hectare and is located on an island in Wicksteed Lake. The forest fire hazard is moderate to high across the region.
Four new fires were discovered in the Northwest Region by mid-afternoon of May19.

- Red Lake 2 is located near Pikangikum First Nation. The 0.4 hectare fire is under control.
- Thunder Bay 12 was discovered near Hwy. 589 and Stonehill Rd.. The 0.1 hectare fire is now out.
- Kenora 13 is located on Wabaseemoong Independent Nation. The 1.5 hectare fire is not under control.
- Red Lake 3 is located approximately seven kilometres southeast of the remote community of Poplar Hill. The 2.5 hectare fire is not under control and received aerial suppression from water bombers today.
The forest fire hazard in the Northwest was high to extreme in all sectors.
