What Happened at council? – February 21st

Last night Council held three meetings; Special Council Meeting, Corporate Planning & Policy Manual Committee Meeting, and an In Camera Meeting.

During the Corporate Planning & Policy Manual Committee Meeting,

At the Special Council Meeting, council accepted the staff report of Alex Patterson giving his analysis and reccomendations on replacing our aged ice resurfacer. The Municipality of Wawa has decided to purchase a new Olympia Resurfacer, however this one will be a battery/electric model. This will also allow us to keep the old Olympia for parts, as many are compatible with the new one.

Council has also appointed Councillor Sandra Weitzel to the following boards:

  • Economic Development Corporation of Wawa
  • Municipality of Wawa Public Library Board

Municipal Council has now written off the property taxes owing on the former Family Kitchen on Pinewood Drive in the amount of $202,998.51. The property had been offered unsuccessfully for tax sale, and now the municipality may remove the unpaid taxes from the tax roll, and the property can be declared surplus.
