RICHARDSON, William Theophilus

Erected to the memory of William Theophilus Richardson, lighthouse keeper at Gros Cap for many years. Died at Gargantua on February 6, 1915 aged 63 years.

William Theophilus was born in England, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Allen) Richardson.

The 1911 census record reports that he immigrated in 1863, but no immigration records have been located. In the same record, he is married to Jane and has a daughter Jane with whom he shares a stone. His wife and daughter were born in Ontario.

William was the first lighthouse keeper at Little Gros Cap which is a peninsula in Michipicoten Harbor, Ontario. The lighthouse was established in 1902. William lived in the area for twenty years.
