News Tidbits:

  • The Ontario government is investing more than $5 million to connect over 16,000 people to primary care teams in Northwestern Ontario, including Thunder Bay, Kenora, Fort Frances, and Sioux Lookout.
  • The Ontario government is investing over $3 million to support families of first responders and public safety personnel who are killed in the line of duty or have died by suicide. The funding will provide free rapid bereavement counselling for up to two years following the death of a loved one.
  • From SSM Police Services:
    • While we will not see a total solar eclipse in our area, the partial eclipse is expected to begin at 2:01 p.m. and at its maximum from 3:15 p.m. to approximately 3:18 p.m., with the partial eclipse fully ending by 4:26 p.m.During this time, please remember these road safety tips:

      🕶️Do not stop or pull over on the roadway or shoulder to observe the eclipse; Plan a safe place to observe the eclipse ahead of time or carefully exit the roadway and park in a safe location away from traffic
      🕶️Ensure your vehicle’s headlights are on if you are driving during this time
