Rain, snow, freezing rain and ice pellets Possible

At 6:14 p.m. Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement. A low pressure system is forecast to affect the area beginning Thursday night and continue on Friday. Rain, snow, freezing rain and ice pellets are all expected with this system. Precipitation will likely start out as rain, possibly mixed with some light snow, early Thursday evening as temperatures remain just above zero degrees Celsius. The area forecast to be affected is shown to the right in the map.

By Thursday night or early Friday, a transition to periods of snow is expected. This snow could become mixed with freezing rain and ice pellets as temperatures drop to or below the freezing mark. Some areas might transition to periods of rain Friday afternoon if daytime temperatures reach a few degrees Celsius above zero. Snow and ice pellet amounts will likely be in the 4 to 8 cm range for these areas, with freezing rain accretion expected to be very minimal.

There is still some uncertainty on the exact track of the low pressure system so precipitation amounts and exact locations could change. Motorists planning to travel in these regions should exercise caution and driving may be treacherous at times.
