The North East Local Health Integration Network (North East LHIN) is inviting people living across Northeastern Ontario to sit on a soon-to-be established Patient and Family Advisory Committee. With a long-standing tradition of engaging with Northerners on priorities needed to strengthen the system of care in Northeastern Ontario, this Patient and Family Advisory Committee is a natural next step in empowering Northerners to be more involved in improving the patient experience.
“Patients and families are at the heart of our health care system and we need their ongoing input to ensure we as a LHIN are making informed decisions to best meets the needs of fellow Northerners health and well-being, “ said Cynthia stables, North East LHIN Director of Communications and Patient Experience.
The Committee will be made up of between 10 to15 people from the North East LHIN’s geographical area who reflect the diversity of the population, including Indigenous and Francophone Northerners, people living in rural and urban areas, and all age groups. Applications are welcome from patients, family members and caregivers who have had varied personal experiences with Northeastern Ontario’s health care system and who have an interest in improving it.
Committee members will provide advice about health care access and service delivery improvements, and recommend ideas to improve patient care and caregiver recognition and support to the North East LHIN. The Committee will meet in person four times per year, with eligible travel costs being covered. To apply, interested candidates must submit an expression of interest, available online at www.nelhin.on.ca/pfac
The deadline to submit an expression of interest is Friday, August 11, 2017. Applicants will be notified as to whether they have been selected to serve on the Committee by early September.
