The sunset from town looked gorgeous, but with the sun setting fast there wouldn’t be enough time to go down to Government Dock before the light was gone. Instead we headed to photograph over the Magpie Valley. At the Goose, the sun was setting in the wrong position, so we continued on. Travelling over the Magpie Bridge on Highway 17, we were surprised to see how much water and ice was under the bridge. We had been called by a Wawa resident who said the water was high, but we had no idea how high it really was.
In fact, at one point (the water was receding at this time), it had started to encroach upon the bottom of the Lagoon Road where it enters Highway 17 by the MTO. Normally these high waters and ice are seen in the spring.
