Last Wednesday morning the staff at our local Tim Hortons franchise presented the Wawa Food bank with a cheque in the amount of $1,540.
Perry and Norma Kauk, along with a number of their staff, took a moment out of their busy day to present the proceeds from “Timmy’s” Smile cookie campaign, having raised an estimated fifty percent more than the previous year.
Cindy Szekely, representing the Wawa Food Bank, commented that this donation could not have been timed better, as more families are struggling to make ends meet. With Wawa coping with the current economic slump, the demands on the local food bank have never been greater, and with this the Thanksgiving weekend, this money will help make the holiday a little brighter for those in need.
A big thank you goes out to the community for supporting the Smile cookie fundraising campaign from both the staff at “Tim’s,” as well as the Wawa Food Bank.
