SSM OPP update on Road Closures

Sault Ste. Marie OPP are advising the following information regarding area road closures. They state, “Crews are hard at work repairing the damage on Highway 17. The highways will reopen when safe for travel. Updates will be provided as necessary.”

Highway 17

• from Pinewood Drive in Wawa to Highway 552 in Goulais River remains closed, due to washouts at Jones Landing and Alona Bay. Length of closure estimated to be at least 24 hours.

Highway 556

• from Highway 552 to Highway 129, due to flooding. Length of closure unknown.

• from Thessalon to Chapleau, due to flooding. Length of closure estimated to be at least 12 hours.
