Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Wawa – Pukaskwa Park
  • Agawa – Lake Superior Park
  • Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay
  • Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

A large low-pressure area from the Northern Plains States will track over Northwestern Ontario tonight than over Far Northern Ontario on Tuesday. This storm track will keep areas near Lake Superior in the milder air today into tonight with a significant rainfall expected.

Rain will continue today into this evening before changing over to flurries overnight with the passage of a sharp cold front.

Total rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm are expected by Tuesday morning in most areas.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop.

High winds/poor weather conditions are possibly the causes for power outages in Awares Township and Goulais River at this time. Algoma Power is investigatng.
