On Sunday, July 23rd, the Municipality of Wawa is proudly hosting a free event for the community at the Michipicoten High School Auditorium called “The Dream Catchers” as a continuation of our Canada 150 celebrations. The Dream Catchers is a Canada 150 funded project that is travelling across the country this summer, presenting a show for all ages about finding hope and delivering the message that no dream is too small.
The Dream Catchers inspiration came from Nick Huard and Yvonne Mosley. They were the creators of ‘The Dreams of the Children of Membertou’ project, which took students over a span of 7 years in the grade 4 class of Membertou Elementary and gave them lessons which talked about the importance of dreaming, goal setting, the future, hope and spirituality. They later approached Confederation Centre of the Arts with an idea: to take the spirit behind their project and share it across the country, with the thought that no matter where someone is from or what language they speak the one thing they have in common is dreams.
The event will begin at 12pm on July 23rd, with 200 seats available. You can obtain your free tickets at the Community Centre Pro Shop, the Tourist Information Centre or Young’s General Store. Contact Brian Lachine at [email protected] with any further questions or for more information.
