On Monday, June 12, 2017 at 12:09 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police received a call for service on Highway 69, approximately 1km north of Wood Duck Trail, involving a fire.
Investigation has since revealed that a tractor trailer was travelling on Highway 69 when it sustained a mechanical issue. The operator had stopped the tractor trailer to investigate the issue when the trailer became fully engulfed in flames. The flames then spread to a nearby area of bush. The Britt and Area Fire Department, as well as the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Fire Fighters were deployed to assist with fire suppression.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
