It began as a small pothole, but continued to grow. The hole was patched, but this year it has to be fixed, meaning that the highway had be be torn open to expose the culvert, and replace it.
There is often heard the saying that we have four seasons, “Almost winter, winter, still winter, and construction!” Well, we are hopefully out of ‘still winter’ and certainly in ‘construction’ season now.
There have been minor traffic delays at the Coldwater Hill south of Wawa on Highway 17. This is the hill just after Orphan Lake, where you have that spectacular view of Lake Superior. A culvert halfway up or down, depending on your direction of travel is being replaced. As of this morning, May 4th, the Ontario511 website is still showing the northbound lane is closed.
