Algoma Power Inc. (Algoma Power) is pleased to announce that the Ontario Energy Board has named it as the interim operator of the electricity distribution system for the Township of Dubreuilville for the next six months per OEB order EB-2017-0153. Algoma Power has delivered safe and reliable electricity to the District of Algoma for over 100 years and is part of the FortisOntario family of companies, which includes utilities throughout the province of Ontario.
Dubreuil Lumber Inc. informed the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) that it will not be renewing its licence to distribute power locally. To ensure the residents and businesses of Dubreuilville have a safe and reliable electricity supply, the OEB has ordered Algoma Power to take over the electricity distribution operations of Dubreuil Lumber.
Algoma Power has been in regular communications with Dubreuil Lumber Inc. and have been working cooperatively to ensure continued service to the customers of Dubreuilville. Algoma Power wants to assure the residents of Dubreuilville that while the company has been assigned as an interim operator, they will work to fulfill all of the responsibilities as the electricity distributor.
Historically, Algoma Power has been supplying power to Dubreuil Lumber Inc. and has served customers in the area near the Township of Dubreuilville for many years. It has also provided assistance to Dubreuil Lumber Inc. in emergencies. Algoma Power’s familiarity with the community will help ensure both a smooth transition and the continued operation of the distribution system.
During the next six months, Algoma Power will be reporting to the OEB on the state of the electricity distribution system in the Township of Dubreuilville. At the end of the six months, the OEB can renew its Order if necessary to ensure the continued supply of safe and reliable electricity to the area.

Dubreuil Lumber Inc. has historically held the distribution Licence for the Township of Dubreuilville. The company owns the only softwood lumber sawmill located in the Town of Dubreuilville, which has been no-operational since 2007. During the years when Dubreuil Lumber was in operation, the town of Dubreuilville grew and thrived as a direct result of this bustling business.
