At 7:45 p.m., on May 2, 2018, officers from the Mattawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) closed Highway 533, between Highway 656 and Highway 63, northwest of the Town of Mattawa, Ontario, due to severe flooding.
MTO has placed barricades at both ends of the closure. The water is very deep in some areas and the OPP is asking motorists to please respect the barricades by not driving on the closed highway, as it is very dangerous.
Driving on a closed highway can result in a fine and 3 points on your licence.
