On October 6, 2017 at 1:20 p.m., West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police received a call about a missing person near Trim Tree Island on the waters of Georgian Bay.
Investigation has since revealed that Owen SANDS, 53 years of age from Toronto was reported missing by family members. SANDS was last seen travelling in his pontoon boat near Shawanaga Inlet on the waters of Georgian Bay on October 5, 2017 at around 12:00 p.m.
Earlier today, the pontoon boat was located near Trim Tree Island by family members. The OPP Aviation Services and the West Parry Sound OPP Marine Unit with the assistance of the Carling Fire Department, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and the Canadian Coast Guard commenced a search in the area where the pontoon boat was located.
Owen SANDS is described as 5’9″, 134lbs., thin build, Caucasian, short greying blonde hair, with blue eyes.
Police and family are concerned for his well-being, anyone with any information or who may know the whereabouts of this missing person is asked to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
