On Thursday, August 23rd, the Municipality of Wawa had to indefinitely close the Wawa Creek Bridge (Queen Street) in Michipicoten River Village “The Mission”.
Some emergency repairs will be done to the bridge so that it can be reopened for use. Residents of the Upper Mission and those using the Harbour Road are asked to use the Old Tote Road.
Wawa-news had a peek under the bridge, and at the supports. Not being engineers, it was difficult or know to see exactly what needed repairs except for the one beam. The Municipality does conduct regular inspections and has done maintenance in the past to this bridge, and the bridge over the Magpie River at Silver Falls.
