- Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte First Nation (ON) has lifted 3 long-term drinking water advisories. The advisories had been in place since 2008.
- 33 years ago, the Exxon Valdez, owned and operated by the Exxon Corporation, runs aground on a reef in Prince William Sound in southern Alaska. An estimated 11 million gallons of oil eventually spilled into the water.
