Victims Identified in Fatal Collision

On November 1, 2017, at approximately 8:30 a.m. officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17,  40 km West of Shabaqua. Two Commercial Motor Vehicles (tractor-trailer units) collided and Highway 17 was closed approximately nine hours.

 

The two deceased have been identified as Sukhvir SIDHU, 33 years of age of Steinback, MB and Amrit SEKHON, 33 years of age of Calgary, AB. A third person, in one of the tractor-trailer units was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

 

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) were deployed to photograph, map and measure the collision scene to assist the assist investigators.
