10:29 p.m. – OPP issued a press release at 10:13 stating that Hwy 17 between the Junction of 17/519 and White River has been reopened. It is raining and foggy out there – drive safe.
9:28 p.m. – my sincerest apologies to all my readers.
The highway was only open for one lane letting only the traffic accumulatedat the scene through I believe.
I just drove out of Dubreuilville to return to Wawa and the barricade is still up. There is no traffic going further west from the junction of 17/519. In fact there is a lineup of 2.5kms of traffic (cars, motorcycles, campers, transports) all patiently waiting. There is no OPP at the barricade and traffic keeps accumulating. As I type parked on the shoulder 6 more transports have arrived and 3 pickups. Anyone trying to get into Dubreuilville will have to drive at least 2.5kms in the opposing lane to get to the turnoff.
7:28 p.m. UPDATE -a wawa-news reader has texted wawa-news that one lane is open, eastbound traffic is flowing. The trailer has been moved enough that traffic can go by in the one lane, alternating directions.
7:11 p.m. UPDATE – the highway remains closed at this time. Efforts are being made to move the trailer so that a southbound lane can be opened. Northbound traffic is being stopped at the Dubreuilville turnoff preventing travel north.
5:11 pm – tractor trailer across road and into rock cut. Extrication underway.
4:55 p.m. Tweet by OPP_COMM_NER ‘COLLISION: #Hwy17 approximately 20 km East of #WhiteRiver – Single vehicle, both lanes are CLOSED. Emergency crews on scene.’
