WINN, Wilfred Charles “Chuck”

In loving memory of Wilfred Charles “Chuck” Winn, 83 years of Sudbury who passed away Saturday morning, December 27th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital – Laurentian Site.

He was born in Haliburton and married Anne Mousseau in 1956 in Wawa. He attended school in Haliburton. In his younger days he was a skilled hockey and ball player.

He joined the RCAF in 1940 and was discharged in 1946 as a sargent having served overseas. After the war he worked briefly for GM before joining the OPP in 1951 where he served for 35 years retiring in 1985 having been stationed in Sudbury, Garson, Elliot Lake, White River, Wawa and Dowling.

After retirement he provided security at the Grand Theater. He was a member of the Mended Hearts, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76, the Easter Seals Snowrama Committee, Country and Western Music Association, the Ontario Government 1/4 Century Club, a 32nd Degree Mason with the Nickel Lodge 427 AF & AM and the Sudbury Shrine Club. He was a proud and life member of the OPP Veterans Association and life member of the Police Association.

In 1992 he received a plaque from the OPP Commissioner as “Veteran of the Year”

Chuck will be remembered as a very caring and generous person who was devoted to his loving wife and daughter. Beloved husband of Anne Mousseau Winn of Sudbury. Loving father of Tracy Ellen Winn of Sudbury. Cherished son of Isaac and Mary Ellen Donnelly Winn predeceased. Dear brother of Lafette, Franklin, William wife Edna, John, Albert, Cecilia husband Hugh, Mildred husband Wallace and Helen husband George all predeceased. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by Marian and Bill Halcomb of Michigan, Valerie and Russell Campbell of Florida. Dear brother-in-law of Isabelle Winn of Capreol and Wilda Lamothe of Garson.

Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury.Friends may call from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Funeral Service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, Tuesday, December 30th, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. Interment in the Civic Cemetery, Sudbury.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday under the auspices of the Nickel Lodge 427 AF & AM.
