A Winter storm warning is in effect for:
- Wawa – Pukaskwa Park
- White River – Dubreuilville
- Chapleau – Missinaibi Lake
- Timmins – Cochrane – Iroquois Falls
Snow is expected to begin this morning and may become mixed with ice pellets or freezing rain tonight, especially from Wawa to Chapleau. Any ice pellets or freezing rain (ice accretion of 2 to 5 mm possible on untreated surfaces.) is expected to transition back to all snow with accumulations of 10 to 20 cm by early Sunday morning. Snow will taper to flurries from west to east Sunday afternoon.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
