Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to express solidarity and discuss Canada’s ongoing support to the people of Ukraine.
Prime Minister Trudeau thanked President Zelenskyy for his powerful speech to the Parliament of Canada on Tuesday, and commended his exceptional courage and leadership, which have been inspirational for Canadians and for people around the world. The President thanked the Prime Minister for Canada’s close friendship and strong support for Ukraine, including Canada’s efforts in working with its allies and mobilizing additional international support to hold Russia accountable for its unjustifiable and illegal invasion of Ukraine.
Prime Minister Trudeau updated President Zelenskyy on the delivery of aid to Ukraine from Canada, and the two leaders discussed how Canada will continue to support Ukraine on an ongoing basis.
Prime Minister Trudeau and President Zelenskyy agreed to keep in close touch.
