The Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has launched a program that creates a safe place for people to conduct online property transactions. The Detachment Offices at 742 Great Northern Road has marked two parking spaces for people to meet and complete their transaction. OPP explain that Project Safe Trade is a community safety initiative that is “municipality driven” in keeping with the community mobilization concepts. Creating a “community safe zone” in detachment parking lots is about moving online transactions away from secluded parking lots or other areas they occur in and bringing them to a public place.”
