On August 26 2018 at approximately 11:15 p.m. members from the Batchawana Police Service and the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an intoxicated male on Batchawana First Nations Territory. As a result of further investigation, Mathew L’HEREUX 22 years-of-age of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was charged with the following;
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin) contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
- Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on September 24, 2018 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
