Driver Charged with Careless Driving in Death of Bicyclist

On July 28, 2017 at approximately 3:00 pm, members from the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), together with Algoma Emergency Services (EMS) responded to a serious collision involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle. The collision took place at the intersection of Main Street and Broadway Ave. in the town of Wawa. Deceased is 53 year old Nicole SPENCER of Wawa.

The driver, 85 year old Ann HICKS of Wawa, has been charged with Careless Driving contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. She is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Wawa on September 21st, 2017.
