Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the assistance of Technical Traffic Collison Investigators (TTCI), Forensic Identification Units (FISU) and the OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 17.
On Friday, February 23, 2018 at approximately 8:30 a.m, the Kenora OPP was notified of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, east of Willard Lake.
The male driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver and passenger of the Tractor Trailer Unit sustained minor injuries. Highway 17 has one lane open at this time. Highway 71 and Highway 502 are open as a detour.
The identity of the driver will be released upon Next of Kin notification.
The investigation is continuing.

(released Friday, February 23, 2018, at 10:44 AM) Members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a collision on Highway 17, east of Willard Lake. The highway is currently closed at this time.
Police received a complaint of a Motor Vehicle Collision at 8:25 a.m. between a pick-up truck and a Tractor Trailer Unit. There are 3 occupants, the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
Investigation is continuing.
