Congratulations to Dan ‘the Mechanic’ (from Wawa) who answered questions on CBC’s Morning North – He won a CBC Ball Cap, he missed the second question, got the third winning a CBC Tote Bag, missed the fourth, and won the fifth winning a CBC Mug!

There was one new fire discovered in the Northeast region by mid-afternoon on June 18; North Bay 12 is now out at 0.1 of a hectare. There remains one active fire in the region, Kirkland Lake 1  is still being observed at 15.8 hectares. The fire hazard is generally high with some areas showing an extreme hazard in both the central and southern portions of the region.
<brThere were no new fires confirmed in the Northwest Region by the mid-afternoon of June 18, with five forest fires confirmed by the end of the day on June 17. Three in Red Lake district and two in Sioux Lookout district. All these fires received rain which has reduced their activity and helped with suppression efforts.
<brThere are currently six active fires in the Northwest Region. One is being held and the rest are classified as not under control. The forest fire hazard is high in the Thunder Bay district and southern half of the Nipigon district. A low to moderate hazard exists in the remainder of the region.
<brPremier Doug Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, to make an announcement at 1 p.m.
