Weather – Mainly sunny. Fog patches dissipating this morning. High 24. Humidex 29. UV index 5 or moderate. Tonight will be mainly cloudy. 40 percent chance of showers this evening. Showers beginning near midnight. Risk of a thunderstorm this evening. Low 11.

Marine – Strong wind warning in effect. Wind south 15 knots diminishing to northwest 10 this afternoon then increasing to north 15 this evening. Wind increasing to northeast 20 Tuesday morning except variable 10 near the east end. Waves one metre subsiding to one half metre early this evening then building to one Tuesday morning.

News Tidbits – Debra Latour of Elliot Lake is still in disbelief after winning a $250,000 top prize with INSTANT ICE (Game #2049). She purchased her ticket at Hillside Shop & Save on Hillside Drive in Elliot Lake.

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie and the District of Algoma is hosting a Butter Tart Festival on Sunday, October 1st from 10am – 2pm in Bellevue Park. The event begins with a 5K and 10K Run Against Crime! at 10am. Runners can sign up in advance by going to their website, or on race day.  After the run there will be a 1K Scavenger Hunt fun run for children 12 and under. This will all be followed by the Butter Tart Bake-Off at noon.
