On September 22, 2017, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Canine Unit began an extensive ground search for an elderly male in the Municipality of Huron Shores.
Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on September 23, 2017, 71 year old Laurence FOLZ of Blind River, Ontario, was located deceased on a property on Willis Road. The investigation is continuing. No foul play is suspected at this time and a post mortem date has yet to be determined.
The OPP wishes to thank the public for their assistance with this investigation.

Members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Canine Unit are conducting an extensive ground search for a missing elderly male.
Investigation reveals Laurence FOLZ (71) of Blind River, Ontario, had made arrangements for a ride to a property on Willis Road, in the Municipality of Huron Shores at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Saturday September 16, 2017.
He was last seen wearing a grey sweat pants. Unknown at this time what other clothing he was wearing. He is described as being 6’2″ tall, weighing 210 -220 lbs, short grey hair and may have a grey mustache.
Police are concerned for his wellbeing and are asking anyone that may have seen him or may know his whereabouts to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
