It is with great pride and excitement that Sault College celebrates the recent Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Achievement Awards won by Sault College President, Dr. Ron Common and Dean, Aviation, Trades and Technology, Natural Environment and Business, Mr. David Orazietti.
The awards ceremony, which took place on Saturday, February 18, celebrated excellence throughout our community. Dr. Ron Common was awarded the Paul Dalseg Community Achievement Award, which recognizes a businessperson in Sault Ste. Marie who has demonstrated exemplary interest in the community, and in so doing, has made a major, outstanding and unique achievement or contribution to the life of the community.
Dr. Common was recognized for his dedication to Sault College and the Sault Ste. Marie community. His ongoing volunteerism, including serving on numerous boards, commitment to positioning Sault College as a leader in post-secondary education, and overall passion and enthusiasm for Sault Ste. Marie were the cornerstone of this deserving award.
“This award encompasses all the work Dr. Common has done not only for our institution, but also for the Sault Ste. Marie area,” says Lyne Gagnon, Chair, Sault College Board of Governors. “We are so proud to have Dr. Common lead our College and would like to extend sincere congratulations on this well-deserved honour.”
Mr. David Orazietti, Dean, Aviation, Trades and Technology, Natural Environment and Business, was also honoured this past Saturday as the recipient of the President’s Award. This award recognizes an individual who makes an exceptional effort, going above and beyond the call of duty, in any area of business and community development.
The President’s Award is particularly meaningful as the recipient is selected by the Past President of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce, and the award may not always be given annually.
Mr. Orazietti was selected for this prestigious award to acknowledge and honour his unwavering commitment to our community. Throughout the past several years, he has been dedicated to the community and a strong advocate for the north and everything it has to offer. His work has helped to revitalize our community and is truly inspiring.
“On behalf of Sault College, I would like to congratulate Mr. Orazietti on this great honour,” notes Dr. Ron Common, President, Sault College. “Mr. Orazietti’s ongoing dedication and commitment have been instrumental in bettering our community and we are so proud to have him as part of the Sault College team.”
The entire College would like to congratulate both Dr. Common and Mr. Orazietti on their significant achievements.
