GATZ, Frederick Clifford

The family announces with sorrow the death of Fred on May 16, 2009 in his 75th year. Son of the late Carl and Nellie (nee Chiupka), Gatz. Beloved husband of Freda (nee Jutsum) for over 51 years. Loving father of Jennifer, Jeremy (Pyerr) and Jonathan (Janet). Dear sister of Helen David (late Ronald). Predeceased by sister Olga and brothers Alex and Walter.

Fred was very proud to have received the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award in 2000. The Wawa Ice Fishing Derby will never be the same.

At Fred’s request there will be no visitation. A service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at First United Church, Wawa on Monday, May 25, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bonnie Rayner officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations to The Sudbury Regional Hospital Foundation for the Dialysis Unit, 41 Ramsey Lake Rd. Sudbury Ont. P3E 5J1 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
