Today is the annual ‘Feed the Need’ at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With it’s beginnings a number of years ago by Ian McDonald & Subway, it has outgrown simply being a small event inside of Subway to a huge community event supported by many other businesses. Patrons of ‘Feed the Need’ bring a non-perishable food item for the Wawa Community Food Bank or financial contribution and receive in exchange a 6′ sub or slice of pizza, cookie and beverage!
While you sit and eat, a number of local performers present entertainment for your dining pleasure. Past entertainers have included pianist Anne Owen, guitarist Rene Derasp, pianist Damien Binda and others. Performers from Samantha and her Dancers have also performed. It promises to be another busy and cheerful day, so come down and ‘feed the need’.
This is the main fundraising opportunity for the Wawa Community Food Bank. This year it has become even more important now that the ‘points program’ at our local ValuMart has been discontinued. If you would like to make a financial donation to the Wawa Community Food Bank this year, e-mailing them at [email protected], mailing to Box 1065, Wawa, ON P0S 1K0, or you can provide your donation in person.
