Highway 17 has been reopened. Environment Canada’s Winter Weather Travel Advisory is still in effect from Montreal River Harbour to Searchmont. “Lake effect snow, heavy at times. Local snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm. Reduced visibility in heavy snow.”

Highway 17 remains closed at this time.
The webcams from ON511 show a variety of road conditions between Wawa and Sault Ste. Marie.
- Heyden is bare and wet.
- Batchawana Bay looks snowy and perhaps some poor visibility,
- Goulais Bay is bare and wet,
- Montreal River Hill shows that the highway is bare, wet with some slush, perhaps some snowpack and sunshine,
- Red Rock looks wet with some sunshine.
Motorists can detour by taking Highway 101 (Wawa to Chapleau), then Hwy 129 to Thessalon and rejoin Hwy 17. Highway 101 shows as being bare, and Hwy 129 is partly snow-covered.

Highway 17 between Wawa and Batchawana Bay has been closed due to poor weather and road conditions. The highway was closed at 1:37 a.m.
Motorists can detour by taking Highway 101 (Wawa to Chapleau), then Hwy 129 to Thessalon and rejoin Hwy 17.
Remember that the Sultan Industrial Road at Stephens (~66-67km) will be closed on Tuesday, October 31st from 8 am to 4 pm. CN is completing some maintenance at the rail crossing location.
