On June 25, 2017, members of the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Highway 17 west in the town of Blind River.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m., police observed a westbound vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver the officers detected an odour of marihuana emanating from the vehicle and arrested the driver and passengers. The vehicle was searched and over 60 grams of Cannabis Marihuana was located and seized.
As a result of the investigation, the driver Eric LEMIEUX, 21 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with: Possession of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana-Under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Criminal Code (CC).
William ST GERMAIN, 20 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with: Possession of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana-Under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the CC.
Matthew STANGHETTA, 20 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, was charged with: Possession of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana-Under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the CC.
The three male accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on August 3, 2017.
