Marathon OPP – Three Stunt Drivers

Three drivers are facing Stunt Driving charges after being stopped by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) near Marathon on May 6, 2017.

 

At approximately 12:32 am, OPP observed a GMC truck speeding on Highway 17 in Lecour Township. An officer operating radar determined the truck was travelling 145km/hr in the 90km/hr speed zone. A 31 year-old male from Stoney Creek, ON was charged with Stunt Driving contrary to Highway Traffic Act section 172(1).

 

At approximately 1:41pm, OPP observed a Jaguar car speeding on Highway 17 near Highway 614. An officer operating radar determined the car was travelling 145km/hr in the 90km/hr speed zone. A 36 year-old male from Toronto, ON was charged with Stunt Driving contrary to Highway Traffic Act section 172(1).

 

At approximately 5:06pm, OPP observed a Pontiac car speeding on Highway 17 near Highway 614. An officer operating radar determined the car was travelling 151km/hr in the 90 km/hr speed zone. A 22 year-old male from Calgary, AB was charged with Stunt Driving contrary to Highway Traffic Act section 172(1).

 

All three drivers had their licenses suspended and their vehicles towed and impounded for seven days.

 

OPP reminds motorists to contact police to report aggressive and unsafe driving.
