MATHISON, Garnet

February 18, 1925 – February 23, 2022

Passed away peacefully, after a very short illness, at Sault Area Hospital on February 23rd, 2022 in his 98th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth, whom he missed dearly during the past ten years.

Survived by his children Jayne, Randy (Jennifer), late Gary (Vicki), Tracy (Cindy) and Jennifer (Chad). Grandfather of David (Erin), Michael (Emma), Catherine, Heather (Brad), Brad (Melissa), Amy, Greg, Jessica, Zach, Hailey, Shane, (Britney), Courtney (Alex), late Christyne, Sam (Britanny) and Cole. He will also be missed by his 21 great grandchildren.

Born and raised in Orillia, Ontario, Garnet moved to Sault Ste. Marie after serving with the Black Watch Regiment during World War II.

At Garnet’s request, no funeral service will be held. Thank you to his wonderful neighbours for all of their care, attention and company- he very much appreciated it.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the SAH – Algoma District Cancer Program or SAH Renal Dialysis unit would be appreciated.
