Nipigon OPP – Two Charged for Posession of Stolen Property

Members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two individuals with possession of stolen property after locating a stolen vehicle outside a local business.

On September 29th, 2026, at around 2:00 p.m., members of the Nipigon OPP Detachment responded to a traffic complaint regarding a black sport utility vehicle, swerving on the roadway, the vehicle also matched the description of a stolen vehicle. The suspect vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 11 towards Nipigon. Officers observed the vehicle on Highway 11 near Lake Helen First Nation, when officers activated the emergency lights the vehicle failed to stop. Due to public safety concerns officers discontinued the traffic stop. A short time later, officers observed the vehicle unoccupied and parked outside a local business. The licence plate was confirmed to be a black Chevrolet Traverse which had been reported stolen from the Longlac area a few hours earlier. Two involved females matching the descriptions provided were located inside the business and arrested by police.

As a result, Angelina SHEBAGABOW 33-years of Long Lake 58 First Nation, Ontario was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code

  • Possession of Property obtained by crime – over $5000.00
  • Fail to comply with Undertaking

Alexia TAYLOR 23-years of Ginoogaming ON was also arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act

  • Possession of Property obtained by crime – over $5000.00
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Fail to comply with Undertaking
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

Both accused were released from custody to attend court on a later date.

Approximately 15 minutes later officers were called to a local business as two females were reported to be harassing customers. Both accused were arrested again and one further charged for resist police and both charged for Fail to Comply with Undertaking, both subjects were held for bail.
