BOUTHILLIER, Lucien

1947-2022

It is with great sorrow that the family announces his death in Sudbury on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the age of 74 years after a lengthy battle with COPD. Predeceased by his loving wife Judy in 2021. Proud father of Denise Bussineau (Lane) and Lisa Bouthillier (Dan Mayotte). Son of the late Jean and the late Germaine Bouthillier. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandsons Chris Bouthillier (Kristin), Dillon Bussineau, Brandon Bussineau and Kyle Muise. Survived by his siblings George (Simone), Georgette Carrière (Jean), Roger (Gisèle), and Pauline Bouthillier. Predeceased by his sister Rita Lavoie (Louis).  Also left to cherish his memories are his in-laws Fred Medynski (Nicole) and Margaret Pennell (late Melvin).

Lucien was born in Opisatika, Ontario, moving to Sudbury as a child.  He later met and married Judy in 1968.  Luc and Judy raised their daughters in Wawa, Ontario where Luc worked as a welder at Algoma Ore Division.  In 1989 they returned to Sudbury where he continued his welding career.  Both in Wawa and Sudbury, Luc enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends.  He loved to play horseshoes and was an avid dart player.  He also loved to watch his grandsons play hockey and enjoyed visits back to Wawa to enjoy time at the Bussineau camp.  He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and many good friends both in Wawa and Sudbury.  “May you be in heaven a full half-hour before the devil knows you’re dead!”

The family would like to thank the staff in the HSN Emergency Department, the Palliative Care Unit and everyone who helped us get through losing both Luc and Judy in such a short period of time. We believe they are reunited again – no pain, just peace.

As per Luc’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation at this time. A Celebration of Life is planned for both Luc and Judy in late spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McColloch Hospice would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
