It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jay Nichols.
Jay was a devoted father to Alex (Kalynn) and Sydney (Patrick). He adored his children and was immensely proud of them.
He was affectionately known as “Papa” to his two beautiful granddaughters, Halle and Reese.
Jay married the love of his life, Joanne. Together they nurtured their family, shared their interests, and pursued their dreams.
Jay is survived by his mom, Wilma Hermeston and his brother John (Elizabeth) as well as many nephews and nieces. He is
predeceased by his father, John Nichols and his step-father, Neale Hermeston.
Jay embraced the outdoors and was deeply passionate about his “Parks”. He took great pride in his work caring for and protecting these special places.
Jay loved to fish!! In recent years, his favourite place to fish was his camp on Jessup Island on Lake Nipissing, a special place he shared with Joanne.
He was an avid collector of vintage lures, which he proudly displayed at the camp. His other interests included hunting, hockey, golf, reading, travel, After 4’s and spending time with family and friends.
Jay lived his life in his own quiet, steady way. His kindness, quiet smile, and even-tempered nature made him that special person people felt comfortable around. His sudden passing leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of those who loved him. While
he will be deeply missed, the memories created, the knowledge he shared, the friendships he built and the love he gave will remain with us always.
The family would like to extend thanks to the medical team at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital and the first responders.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
