On Tuesday, December 11th, the Grade 1/2 students from St. Joseph French Immersion Catholic School joined some of the long-term care residents at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre during Minds in Motion. In preparation for our afternoon, special guest Christy Reid visited us to discuss dementia and Alzheimer’s disease and to do a read aloud. The students made connections to their own experiences with aging loved ones.
The group enjoyed mingling, carolling with Brian Lachine, making crafts, enjoying a snack and exchanging gifts. The students ended the afternoon with a musical performance. Thank you to Jolene Binda and family, Chris Rask, and Christy Reid for inviting our class as well as organizing and running the event!
