Old Great Lakes Power Offices – Gone

Another touchstone to Wawa’s past is now gone. The old Great Lakes Power Office has been torn down and removed. It is sad in a way to see this office gone, but others would love to see the substation itself removed and relocated to a different spot.

 

Many long-time residents of Wawa will remember going in to pay their bills at this office. For a long time, I remember Mrs. Mowat working there and taking payments; and the odd glimpse of Mr. Leo Lavoie in one of the offices. If you ran behind in your bill, it was so easy to run into the office and quickly make a payment on it. Now you have to make alternate arrangements.
