Wawa-news.com You can't hear the 'big picture'!
With permission from Ontario Provincial Police, Wawa-news drove to Alona Bay to see the damage that occurred this morning. Highway 17 has been washed out since early this morning and will remain closed until repairs can be made. Estimates are at this time of at least 24 hours.
There are actually two washouts. The one is at Alona Bay right at the south end of the lookout. The second is a kilometre or so south of the Alona Bay lookout.

Thanks for the great photos, my sister was one of the last cars through yesterday morning and as we live in Toronto there has been no to little coverage. Your photos really helped us see why the road was closed.
