Schreiber OPP – Impaired driver arrested

On September 6, 2026 around 7:00 p.m., members of the Schreiber OPP Detachment responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the Town of Schreiber. Officers patrolled the area and a short time later located the suspect vehicle, on Kingsway Road. The motor vehicle was observed in the backyard, hung up on a rock with the lights on. There was visible damage to the suspect vehicle as well as another parked vehicle in the yard. When officers arrived on scene the male attempted to climb out of a window, but was subsequently arrested and taken to the Nipigon Detachment for further breath testing.

As a result, Douglas MCLEOD, 37-years-old, of Schreiber ON, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with

• Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
• Operation While Impaired – Over 80
• Operation While Prohibited

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Schreiber at a later date.
