On Saturday, June 24, 2017, the Royal Canadian Legion provided a warm setting for the Lady Dunn Health Centre Foundation’s 7th annual Summer Wine Tasting. This sold out event was a great success! The annual Summer Wine Tasting has grown significantly since its inception, becoming highly promoted and a recognized social and charitable event “not to be missed”. All funds raised at this evening will help purchase necessary vital medical equipment for the Lady Dunn Health Centre.
This year’s theme “Canada 150” featured six Canadian Wines and Swingbridge Pale Ale from Manitoulin Island. Featured wines and beer were sampled with accompanying appetizers. Tasters were able to compare the wine and the beer using an easy scorecard that guided them through the tasting process. In honour of “Canada 150”, Mary Ciuciura featured Canadian instrumental music from Paul Anka to the Weeknd which was enjoyed by all.
The top scoring wine of the evening was Diabolica White VQA followed by Diabolica Red VQA from British Columbia.
The Lady Dunn Health Centre Foundation would like to thank our wine tasting sponsors; Tbaytel, Algoma Highlands Wild Blueberries and Fenlon’s Pharmacy. We would also like to thank and acknowledge the support of the Lady Dunn Health Centre Staff, The Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, LCBO, the volunteers and our local media. Your support is appreciated and will help ensure our hospital has the medical equipment needed to provide excellent patient care.
