• Confederation College’s Primary Care Paramedic program has received a donation of a decommissioned ambulance from Ornge, enhancing hands-on training opportunities for students. Superior North EMS is further supporting the new ambulance by donating a Stryker Power-PRO 2 hydraulic stretcher compatible with the ambulance’s loading system.
• The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) is inviting nominations for the 2026 Innovation Awards, returning on Nov. 6 after an eight-year hiatus. The awards will recognize individuals and organizations advancing innovation across the Algoma-Manitoulin region. Nominations are open now through Sept. 25, 2026 to find:

• The Government of Canada is taking decisive action to support the forest sector. Yesterday, a $30-million loan to Conifex Timber Inc. was made through the Large Enterprise Tariff Loan (LETL) facility. The funding will help the company adapt to current conditions, support its workers, and build a more secure future for the community of Mackenzie, British Columbia.
