New Superintendent Named for the HSCDSB

It is with great pleasure that the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) announces Joe Chilelli as the new Superintendent of Education, effective August 1, 2017.

“I am very excited to serve the board in this new capacity of Superintendent, and look forward to working with school communities to support them in their very important work,” said Chilelli.

Joe has been with the Board since 1995, with his last fifteen years being in the role of principal. In this role, he has served the St. Pius X, St. Paul and St. Theresa Catholic School communities. As a lifelong learner, Joe holds four university degrees, including a Masters in Education.

“Joe has done a tremendous job as principal over the years. We are sure that he will continue this great work when he begins his new role as Superintendent,” said John Stadnyk, Director of Education.

“We are honoured to have an individual such as Joe, who adds a new perspective and expertise to the table, joining our administrative team. I look forward to working alongside Joe, and continuing to build a successful learning environment for all of our students,” said incoming Director of Education, Rose Burton Spohn.

Chilelli takes over the Superintendent position previously held by Burton Spohn, who starts her role as Director of Education on July 1, 2017.  Earlier this year, Chilelli was named Principal of St. Basil Catholic Elementary School, which will open in September.  Fil Lettieri has now been moved from Vice-Principal to Principal at St. Basil.  Franca Spadafora will serve as Vice-Principal.
